Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez held a Black History Month event on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights on Eastern Parkway.

The event was hosted by master of ceremonies Esmeralda Simmons, a prominent Civil Rights and Human Rights attorney and the keynote speaker was Jennifer Jones Austin, the CEO and executive director of the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies (FPWA). There was also a performance by the Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir.

At the end of the event, Gonzalez honored both Simmons and Austin with awards acknowledging and thanking them for their work in Brooklyn.
