A Williamsburg man wanted for attempting to sexually assault a woman inside a Williamsburg building turned himself into police on Wednesday.

Manuel Almonte, a 30, was charged with attempted rape, burglary, sex abuse, forcible touching, assault and harassment.

Almonte was allegedly seen on video surveillance walking behind a 26-year-old woman on New Year’s Day inside an apartment building near South 2nd and Havemeyer streets before the attack.

Police said Almonte allegedly punched the woman in the back of her head on the first-floor landing, got on top of her and attempted to pull her underwear down. When the woman resisted, he ran out of the building.
