Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday said he plans to order a last-minute review of the closure of the L train’s East River tunnel linking Brooklyn and Manhattan – which is slated to begin in April and last 15 months.

Cuomo made his announcement on the public radio station WNYC.

“I can’t tell you the number of people in Brooklyn who have come up to me and looked me in the eye and said, ‘Are you sure there’s nothing else that can be done?’” Cuomo said.

Cuomo told radio host Brian Lehrer that he would tour the tunnel Thursday night and call in experts to review the shutdown plans, the New York Post said. However, preparations for the shutdown are scheduled to begin in a matter of weeks.

The MTA has argued that a shutdown of the tunnel is essential because of water damage sustained during Superstorm Sandy.
