Helene Blank, the past president of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, gave a brief lecture on changes to the law at a recent meeting of the Kings County Housing Court Bar Association on Nov. 1.

Blank practices primarily in the field of personal injury, but she, along with her partner Scott Star of the Law Offices of Blank & Star, discussed recent changes to procedure and evidence that will affect Housing Court practitioners in Brooklyn.

The KCHCBA hosts regular meetings that take place on the first Thursday of every month, except the summer, at Rocco’s Tacos in Downtown Brooklyn. Attending attorneys do not get continuing legal education credits, but there are regular speakers, usually sitting judges, who discuss topics related to the court.

The association also gives members an opportunity to discuss topics that affect that court, such as calendar calls. President Michael Rosenthal and members have now discussed the topic at multiple recent meetings and have helped shape the implementation of a pilot program that will eventually make its way to Brooklyn.
