A 25-year-old man was shot dead inside The City Point Shopping Center on Wednesday night, police said.

Carlton Spencer was shot in the chest inside the Target on the second floor of the busy Downtown Brooklyn shopping hub located at 445 Albee Square West.

Spencer, 25 of Flatbush, was allegedly a part of a group of other men in their 20s and armed with a machete chasing after a 44-year-old man, The New York Post reported.

When the pack got to the Target the older man allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Spencer, police told The Post.

Spencer was taken to Brooklyn Hospital and pronounced dead.

Target’s security team immediately evacuated and closed the store.

“We’ve provided the NYPD with security footage to help with their investigation and will continue to keep the store closed today at their request. We’ll reopen the store as soon as we safely can. Target appreciates the quick response of the NYPD and we send our deepest condolences to the victim and his family,” said Danielle Schumann, a spokeswoman for Target.

A firearm was recovered from the scene.

Police have a 26-year-old man in custody.

All of the individuals, including the victim, have gang affiliations, a law enforcement source said.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Last month, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams held a press conference to call for a crackdown on the rash of gang-related shootings in the Downtown area.
