Police say two men posing as utility workers robbed a woman of $2,500 after making their way into her home.

The New York Police Department says the men knocked on the door of the home near Oriental Boulevard and Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.

They told the 88-year-old woman who lived there that they needed to check a utility issue inside the home.

Authorities say once they got inside, they demanded money and forcibly took it from the woman. They then fled in a truck driven by a third person.

Police say the woman was not injured.
