The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association is inviting all new attorneys, even non-members, to its annual membership party at Borough Hall on Monday, Sept. 17.

The annual party is meant to kick off the 2018/2019 year under its new president, Carrie Anne Cavallo, and attract new membership. The party also gives the opportunity for the association to honor a member of the legal community. This year, BWBA will give the Amy Wren Award to Hon. Joanne D. Quinones.

Justice Quinones is a past president of the organization and is still among its most active members, years after she has stepped down from that post. Among other things, she runs the annual Read Across America program, in which members of the BWBA go read Dr. Seuss books to elementary school children in Bushwick.

Judge Quinones was also recently given the Judith Kaye Award by the NYS Women’s Bar Association in June. The late Judge Kaye was the longtime chief judge of the New York State Court of Appeals.

The event takes place between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and anyone interested in going is asked to RSVP to [email protected].
