A Tokyo restaurateur is opening a Japanese-French restaurant called Doma in the redeveloped 19th century Nassau Brewery building at 620 Franklin Ave. in Crown Heights. Yuji Tani will be paying more than $70 per square foot for a 1,000-square-foot space on the ground floor, according to Commercial Observer.

The restaurant, which is expected to open next spring or summer, will occupy the Bergen Street side of the building, Commercial Observer reported. While this is the first stateside restaurant for Tani, his Tokyo eatery House serves Japanese food with French and Northern European influences. To make the space more hospitable, Tani is bringing in a Japanese designer Ikuma Kawasaki to renovate it. The building’s developer, Fabian Friedland of Crow Hill Development, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to have Yuji Tani as our first tenant.”
