The noise from partygoers at a trendy Williamsburg boutique hotel has made for many a sleepless night for hotel guests and locals alike.

The McCarren Hotel, a four star establishment on North 12th Street with a pool and a rooftop lounge, was found to be the noisiest hotel out of a group of 90 popular spots across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, according to a study done by the New York Post.

Rooms go for $860 a night, but non-guests can get access to the pool for $85 on weekends and $55 on weekdays, which means the place can get crowded, especially during the summer months. The Post found in an analysis of 311 calls that 90 noise complaints have been filed against the hotel since June 2017, both from angry guests and nearby residents.

The landlord of a building near the hotel told the Post that he had lost tenants because of the noise. “One time,” he said, “it was so horribly loud I put a speaker in the window facing the pool and blasted the Sex Pistols to drown it out.”

However, it appears that things are looking up for the residents of North Williamsburg. Only 5 complaints have been filed so far in 2018, as opposed to the 85 that came in over the course of last year. Maybe it was the influx of 311 calls that did the trick — or maybe it was the Sex Pistols.
