Summer Strolls Will Beguile Ridgeites This August
Summer keeps strolling as Bay Ridge anticipates a fun-filled month of outdoor activities in August, namely the pair of Summer Strolls on Third Avenue and the F.A.C.E. of Fifth (a Family, Arts and Culinary Event) shindig on Fifth Avenue.
Strolls are multi-block events using public street space. Streets are closed to traffic for the duration of the festivities, creating pedestrian plazas in the heart of the neighborhood. This year, the city’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has partnered with 51 community-based organizations on weekends from April through November in all five boroughs.
The events in Bay Ridge are hosted by Merchants of Third Avenue and the Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District (BID). Local restaurants participate with many diverse outdoor dining options. The streets will be filled with music, artwork and family-friendly activities from dancing to face painting.
