New Bed-Stuy restaurant gets thumbs-up from website

Peri Peri Grill House, a new restaurant at 235 Malcolm X Blvd., in many ways typifies the eclectic nature of today’s Bedford-Stuyvesant. Promotional material quoted by Gothamist said it was “Born in Southeast Africa. Crafted by the Portuguese. Welcomed in Bed-Stuy.” And the owners, brother-and-sister team Sohaib and Hanan Malik, are actually from Pakistan.
The dishes, Gothamist said, are mainly “casual food enlivened by an excellent blend of chili pepper-based spices. The Beef Burger, for example, comes with a fat patty prepared either spicy or plain … a slather of peri peri mayo, caramelized onion, lettuce, tomato, melted cheddar, and `a kick of chili sauce.’” Gothamist also praised Peri Peri’s chicken entrees, its fries and mashed potatoes, and its unusual candy bar-flavored milkshakes.
