
Police arrests two suspects in connection to shooting murder of former NYPD civilian employee in Bath Beach

Police have apprehended two suspects in connection with a Bath Beach shooting that left a 66-year-old man dead in 2017.
On Friday, July 20, police arrested 27-year-old Derek Simpkins and 27-year-old Abasie Brabam on second degree murder charges in the murder of Robert Donofrio. The pair were also charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Donofrio, a Bath Beach resident and former NYPD civilian employee, was gunned down at approximately 6:39 p.m. on February 8, 2017 at his home on Bay Eighth Street between Benson and Bath Avenues.
The suspects fled the scene in a 2015 Ford Mustang.
Donofrio was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Brabam, a Georgia resident, was also charged with second degree burglary.
