Members of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar met on Montague Street at Taperia Restaurant in Brooklyn Heights on Tuesday evening where they held their first Paint and Sip event.

It’s a networking event designed to help the judges, attorneys and other court staff that make up the BWBA get to know each other better in a relaxed atmosphere away from the courtrooms and boardrooms.

“The backyard venue at Taperia Restaurant was perfect on an awesome summer night and Jose Frederick Marin, owner of Taperia, was a doting host,” said Justice Genine Edwards, who co-chairs the BWBA Young Lawyers Committee. “The artist, Avilda Whittmore-Walker, owner of Honeybee Arts, guided the session and 25 women were able to channel Picasso. Each budding artist painted her own iteration of Lady Justice.”

With the success of Tuesday’s event, organizers are hoping to host similar events in the future, but have none planned at this time.
