A decade-old stand up comedy joint will become Brooklyn’s only full-time comedy club when it moves from what its owner calls an “old divey kind of piece of crap” in the East Village to a new digs near Barclays Center.

“It’s a brand new building as opposed to the beat-up old basement,” Park Slope resident Marko Elgart, who owns EastVille Comedy Club with his wife Tara, told Brooklyn Daily.

In addition to new surroundings, the club will clean up its act for the family-oriented neighborhood by including magicians and PG-rated comedians. The club, at 487 Atlantic Ave. between Nevins Street and Third Ave., will open July 19 at 8 p.m. Elgart hopes that its new location in the heart of Brooklyn’s downtown area will mean a packed house most evenings, Brooklyn Daily said.
