Summer festival makes Brooklyn a magnet for cheese lovers
Cheesemonger Invitational is coming

An event that started as an industry event for cheese producers, importers and retailers has become a festival for cheese-lovers who filled the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint to capacity earlier this month.
It’s the Cheesemonger Invitational, held in Brooklyn every summer and San Francisco every winter. Adam Moskowitz, head of Larkin’s, a cheese-storage facility, and founder of the festival, told CNN Travel, “I’m a guy who went to Burning Man and thought, ‘I need to bring this feeling back with me.’”
Moskowitz is not only a cheese professional, he’s also a part-time rapper who likes to wear a cow costume with a giant bell around his neck when he emcees the festival. In addition to cheese-tasting booths and the crowning of a champion cheesemonger, there were giveaway T-shirts and tote bags, free flowing wine and beer and a “cheese artist” who paints pictures of cheddar and Camembert, CNN Travel said.
“Cheese is a gateway to a better world,” Moskowitz said.
