Apartment building permits zoom up in Brooklyn
There were more new permits for apartment buildings issued in Brooklyn last month than for any month since 2015, Department of Buildings figures show. Half of them were in the Central Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bedford-Stuyvesant, East Flatbush and Bushwick, according to The Real Deal. If things go according to plan, the borough will have 54 new apartment buildings containing 1,351 units. For other types of buildings, Brooklyn will see two new hotels with 132 rooms, three new office buildings and a new retail building. The largest new building that was issued a permit last month is an affordable housing complex from Arker Companies in East New York, The Real Deal reported.
