A gym teacher at the Khalil Gibran International Academy in Boerum Hill was accused of choking two students during a fight.

Teacher Xavier Guerrero, 32, was fighting with a teenage boy when he put his hand around the youth’s throat, briefly stopping him from breathing, according to the Daily News. When a second boy tried to intervene, Guerrero tried to choke him as well, the News reported. One of the students, age 16, was identified as Kaid Saleh, but police didn’t release the name of the other boy, who is 14. All three were arrested at the school on Tuesday. Guerrero is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and assault, and the youths were both charged with assault. Department of Education spokesman Doug Cohen said on Tuesday, “Mr. Guerrero will be reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation into these troubling allegations.”
