Drunk driver smashes into Bay Ridge storefront
A drunk driver was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 2 after a minor accident quickly escalated, ending with one of the cars crashing into the storefront of a Bay Ridge business.
According to a police source, at around 2:22 a.m. a “fender bender” occurred at the corner of 86th Street and Fifth Avenue, after which those in both cars exited their vehicles and spilled out onto the street.
Following the incident – which another police source said was a rear ending – a passenger in one of the vehicles got behind the wheel in an attempt to take off, at which point he made a U-turn and lost control of the car, crashing into the American Greetings store at 8511 Fifth Avenue.
