Ten-year-old boy in critical condition after being struck by vehicle in Bay Ridge

A 10-year-old boy was struck by a driver on 84th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in Bay Ridge and is listed in critical condition.

According to authorities, on Sunday, April 29 at around 4:50 p.m, the 2015 Nissan was traveling west on 84th Street when it struck the boy who was crossing mid-block.

The victim was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

Elected officials chimed in on the accident.

“A 10-year-old boy was hit by a car on 84th Street this afternoon,” said Councilmember Justin Brannan via Facebook. “If you pray, please send a few his way. I just left the scene and it doesn’t look good.”

 “This evening in Bay Ridge on 84th Street between 5th and 6th a young boy was hit by a car while playing tag,” added State Senator Marty Golden, also via Facebook. “He was transported to a children’s hospital in Queens where he is in critical condition. I ask that you keep this child and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
