Students and parents at the Lenox Academy Middle School in Canarsie are struggling with the fact that criminal sex charges have been filed against well-liked teacher Andre Braddy. According to The New York Times, Andre Braddy, of Crown Heights, was recently arraigned at Kings County Criminal Court on charges that he had engaged in oral sex with a 14-year-old male student at least three times.

The two also exchanged texts containing pictures of the youth’s genitals, according to the police affidavit. The Times quoted Marissa Janniere, a parent, as saying “This is a good school, they’re very supportive to the students. It’s so unfortunate that he would make such a bad decision.”  Lenox is a school for gifted students, most of whose families come from the Caribbean.
