THE LEDE: Happy Tuesday, Brooklyn! New York officials call for tighter firearm regulations following consecutive shootings across the nation, the European Union makes moves to expel Russian spies, and a mummy is found in a once-thought empty coffin. Plus, Brooklyn Law School dean hosts “60 Minutes” watch party, seven restaurants to visit in the borough, and the LGBT community is celebrated in a Mississippi town that was once anti-pride. Finally, White House lawyers are probing Kushner’s firm, French citizens fear anti-Semitism, and Eric Schneiderman shuts down a sham charity.

~GUN LAWS: AFTER PARKLAND, WHAT DO NY OFFICIALS WANT?Following the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, New York officials are calling for tighter regulation of firearms. Here’s what they want to happen: At the federal level, U.S. Sen.Chuck Schumer — following the weekend’s anti-gun marches across the country — announced three gun control priorities: tightened background checks, “ERPO” protection orders and an assault weapons ban. These measures echo legislation being pursued at the state level by Sen. Brian Kavanagh, Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon and others. The first legislation would close what anti-gun activists call the “gun show loophole” by requiring background checks for all firearm sales, including private sales. “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” (ERPO) would allow protective orders to temporarily disarm individuals deemed to be a harm to themselves or to others. Schumer’s third priority demands “formal debate on assault weapons” on the floor of the Senate. (via Brooklyn Eagle)

~LAW SCHOOL DEAN HOSTS WATCH PARTY FOR STORMY DANIELS INTERVIEW: More than 20 million people watched the interview with porn star Stormy Daniels regarding her alleged extramarital affair with PresidentDonald Trump on “60 Minutes” Sunday night, including about 60 professors and law school students who gathered together for a watch party at Brooklyn Law School (BLS). BLS Dean Nicholas Allard felt that the interview between Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, and Anderson Cooper had potential to be the biggest of the decade so he gathered the students as well as a panel consisting of professors Heidi Brown and Minna Kotkin, as well as alumni Harriet Cohen, for a discussion on the legal implications of the porn stars claims. (via Brooklyn Eagle)

~SCHNEIDERMAN SHUTS DOWN SHAM CHARITY: Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office reached a settlement Monday that shut down a Brooklyn-based telemarketing company that scammed almost $200,000 from donors who intended to aid veterans, officials said. Menacola Marketing, Inc. worked on behalf of the National Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVF) — a shell charity that was shut down in 2016 after being caught soliciting millions of dollars while providing little help to veterans — according to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office. (via Brooklyn Eagle)
