It took two young world-travelers, who now love their home borough, to create a picture book called “Secret Brooklyn” that compiles the fascinating, compelling and little-known insights into things that make Brooklyn unique.

They will present a talk and slide show on “Secret Brooklyn” Thursday, April 5 at the historic Montauk Club, 25 Eighth Avenue in Park Slope. Dinner will be served, and all participants will receive a signed copy of “Secret Brooklyn” the colorful 250-page book recently released by French publishing  company Jonglez.

Participants will discover that Brooklyn has the oldest subway tunnel in the world, that the massive doors from a Brooklyn Cathedral were salvaged from a famous sunken ship, that Barkaloo Cemetery in Brooklyn may be the smallest official resting place in the world.

These are the types of unique urban details that authors Michelle Young and Augustin Pasquet explore in their book “Secret Brooklyn: An Unusual Guide”. They invite readers to experience Brooklyn with the same curiosity and attention felt when traveling elsewhere.
