In anticipation of the upcoming “Secret Brooklyn” talk by Michelle Young and Augustin Pasquet at the Historic Montauk Club, Brooklyn Eagle Discovery Events attended their Untapped Cities “Secrets of the Brooklyn Bridge Tour”.

On top of writing “Secret Brooklyn” the duo run a web-magazine called Untapped Cities which organizes tours of urban monuments from a fresh perspective.

Their “Secrets of the Brooklyn Bridge Tour” features the epic origin story of the iconic bridge. Now over 130 years old, the granite and limestone structure has dazzled both tourists and residents alike. The tour not only unpacks the bridge’s history, it also invites participants to explore its many secrets. From champagne vaults, Cold War fallout shelters, and extravagant parties held in secret rooms underneath the Brooklyn Bridge, to an abandoned skate park hidden in plain sight, the tour includes many details about this famous bridge that are often overlooked.

The unique tour was led by Mandy Edgecombe, and photos of some of the facts we learned along the way appear below:
