Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the appointment of two interim judges, Hon. Jeffrey Gershuny and Hon. Adam Perlmutter, to the New York City Civil Court on Monday.

“These judges bring a unique perspective to the court and I am confident they will work tirelessly to serve the people of New York,” de Blasio said in a statement.

Gershuny has previously served as a supervising court attorney in Manhattan’s Criminal Court for seven years before he was named chief counsel to the administrative judge of the New York City Criminal Court. Gershuny is a graduate of Hofstra University Law School.

Perlmutter has practiced criminal law for 22 years as a prosecutor with the Queens District Attorney’s Office before he went to work as a solo practitioner at Perlmutter & McGuinness, PC. He received his law degree from Wisconsin Law School.

Despite the fact that both judges have been appointed to Civil Court, they are both expected to serve in the Criminal Court.
