MINNESOTA — Eagles Take Home Trophy: In this Sunday photo, Philadelphia Eagles’ Nick Foles holds up the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the NFL Super Bowl 52 against the New England Patriots in Minneapolis. The Eagles won 41-33.

SINGAPORE — Traditional Dance Brings Luck: In this Friday photo, the lion dance troupe from Malaysia competes in Singapore in the 11th International Lion Dance Competition, which is usually held ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. The dance is a traditional dance in Chinese culture and some other Asian countries in which performers from a lion dance troupe mimic a lion’s movements while dressed in a lion’s costume, which is believed to bring fortune and luck. These performers from Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia gathered in Singapore to compete against one another and are judged on their skill, grace and musicality, among other things.

NEPAL — Living Goddess is Chosen: Young Nepalese girls wait during the selection of a new living goddess, locally known as “Kumari,” outside a Hindu temple in Patan on Monday. Five-year-old Nihira Bajracharya, second from right, was appointed the new “Kumari.” Nepal’s living goddesses are young pre-pubescent girls considered by devotees to be incarnations of a Hindu goddess. Selected as toddlers, living goddesses usually keep their positions until they reach puberty.

SOUTH KOREA — Preparing for the Games: A worker slides down one of the runs at the Phoenix Snow Park as preparations continue for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Saturday. The venue will host freestyle skiing and snowboarding events.

BRAZIL — Parties Lead Up to Carnival: People cool off in water during the Escravos da Maua block party, as part of pre-Carnival celebrations in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. Block parties are filling the streets before the start of the city’s over-the-top Carnival, the highlight of the year for many. “Escravos da Maua” translates as “Slaves of Maua.”

YEMEN — War Drags On: In this Friday photo, Yemeni militiamen allied to the country’s internationally recognized government prepare to climb a mountain in the outskirts of Sanaa. Yemen’s conflict, which began as a civil war in 2014 and escalated into a regional proxy fight, continues. Winning the hardscrabble terrain takes time and costs dearly, only exacerbating the country’s humanitarian crises and making a war that’s seen more than 10,000 people killed last that much longer.

GREECE — Citizens Rally for Compromise: Greek army veterans salute as they sing the national anthem during a rally in Athens on Sunday. Protesters from across the country converged in the capital’s main square outside Parliament to protest a potential Greek compromise in a dispute with neighboring Macedonia over the former Yugoslav republic’s official name.

SWITZERLAND — Dancers Compete for Scholarships: Second-place winner Hanna Park of South Korea performs her classical variation during the final of the 46th Prix de Lausanne in Lausanne on Saturday. Launched in 1973, the Prix de Lausanne is an international dance competition for young dancers age 15 to 18. Closing the six-day event, prizes are awarded to the best of 21 finalists consisting of scholarships granting free tuition to a world-renowned dance school or dance company.

SOUTH CAROLINA – Amtrak Crash: Authorities investigate the scene of a fatal Amtrak train crash in Cayce, South Carolina, Sunday. At least two were killed and dozens injured. 

GREECE – Police Detain Protester: Riot policemen detain a protester during a scuffle on the sidelines of a rally in Athens, Sunday. Protesters from across Greece converged Sunday on Athens’ main square outside parliament to protest a potential Greek compromise in a dispute with neighboring Macedonia over the former Yugoslav republic’s official name.

BRAZIL – Dog Carnival Parade: A woman takes a selfie with Kaike the dog, both decked out in costumes for the “Blocao” dog carnival parade along Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sunday. Carnival goes to the dogs as pet owners take to the streets for their own party, with their four-legged friends in ornate costumes. 

SERBIA – Underpants Run: A competitor takes part at the 2nd annual Belgrade Underpants Run on the banks of the Danube in Belgrade, Serbia, Sunday.
