After five electricians were cheated out of pay from a Red Hook company, Brooklyn District Attorney-elect Eric Gonzalez and Department of Investigation Commissioner Mark Peters presented them with more than $750,000 in restitution checks on Tuesday, officials said.

The workers were owed the money by Michael Riglietti, 50, after he and his company, MSR Electrical, pleaded guilty last month to grand larceny in Brooklyn Supreme Court. After securing 15 public works contracts, including four Brooklyn schools, Riglietti severely underpaid his workers from 2012 to 2015.

The previously 31 Bay St.-based business was required to pay $54 an hour, plus benefits, but employees actually received between $13.50 to $25 per hour without overtime or benefits, prosecutors said.

Now, roughly a month after the guilty plea, Riglietti paid the restitution that was split amongst the five workers.

In addition to the restitution, Riglietti will get five years’ probation and ordered forfeiture of $2.5 million when he is sentenced on March 28, 2018.

The company will also be debarred from public works contracts for five years.

Riglietti is out on $25,000 bail.
