ISRAEL — Spiritual Leader Dies: Ultra-Orthodox Jews gather at the funeral of Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman in Bnei Brak on Tuesday. Shteinman, the spiritual leader of Israel’s non-Hassidic ultra-Orthodox Jews of European descent and one of the country’s most influential and powerful rabbis, died on Tuesday. He was 104.

BRAZIL — City’s Shelters Fall into Disrepair: In this Friday photo, a homeless man sits on a bench after sleeping there in the port area of Rio de Janeiro. KASHMIR — Authorities Close Road: A village woman collects fodder for her cattle on a snow-covered field on the outskirts of Srinagar on Tuesday. Heavy snowfall and rains have forced authorities in Indian controlled Kashmir to close the only all-weather road link that connects the Kashmir valley to the rest of India.
