ISRAEL — Spiritual Leader Dies: Ultra-Orthodox Jews gather at the funeral of Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman in Bnei Brak on Tuesday. Shteinman, the spiritual leader of Israel’s non-Hassidic ultra-Orthodox Jews of European descent and one of the country’s most influential and powerful rabbis, died on Tuesday. He was 104.

BRAZIL — City’s Shelters Fall into Disrepair: In this Friday photo, a homeless man sits on a bench after sleeping there in the port area of Rio de Janeiro. Many shun shelters because they often have strict rules and, by the city’s own acknowledgement, have fallen into disrepair, with bug infestations and filthy bathrooms.

Honduras’ electoral court finished a hand recount of votes in nearly 5,000 ballot boxes on Sunday, saying that results are “extremely consistent” with original data that put President Juan Orlando Hernandez ahead.
