A Brooklyn gang member was convicted of second-degree murder Monday for killing his friend and fellow gang member on a Flatlands street, officials said.

After a two-week trial, a jury found Reginald Brown guilty of firing at Derron Clarke, fatally hitting him in the neck.

Brown and Clarke were in the Gangster Disciples street gang together until Clarke was caught stealing money and drugs from other gang members.

Brown, 29, killed Clarke as punishment while they were walking near East 48th Street and Avenue J in Flatlands on Nov. 7, 2010.

After Clarke, then 19, was left bleeding in the middle of the street, Brown and others spent the rest of the night in a nearby club.

“This defendant cruelly and cowardly shot the victim in this case, executing him for a perceived betrayal,” acting Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. “In an instant, he senselessly ended one man’s life and destroyed his own.”

Brown faces 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 3.

During the trial, fellow gang member Taurean Williams took the stand at Brooklyn Supreme Court to testify against Brown.

Williams, 26, said his close friend Clarke stole $200 from his credit card, which he brought to Brown’s attention.

Although Williams said he did not intend to kill Clarke, he agreed he should “get dealt with.”
