COLOMBIA – The Pope Welcomed: Pope Francis is recorded with a tablet as he greets journalists on board the flight to Bogota, Colombia, Wednesday. Pope Francis is traveling to Colombia on a five-day apostolic trip during which he will visit the cities of Bogota, Villavicencio, Medellin and Cartagena. 

MALAYSIA – Paper Statue in Flames: Malaysian Chinese people burn a giant paper statue of the Chinese deity “Da Shi Ye” or “Guardian God of Ghosts” during the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival in Kuala lumpur, Malaysia, Thursday. The Hungry Ghost Festival is celebrated during the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar, when prayers are offered to the dead and offerings of food and paper-made models of items such as televisions, refrigerators and sport cars are burnt to appease the wandering spirits. It is believed that the gates of hell are opened during the month and the dead ancestors return to visit their relatives. 

INDONESIA – Protesters Through Razor Wire: Muslim protesters are seen through razor wire barricades during a rally against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims outside the Myanmar’s Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, Wednesday. Several thousand people marched in Indonesia’s capital on Wednesday, calling on the government of the world’s most populous Muslim nation to put more pressure on Myanmar to halt the persecution of its Rohingya Muslim minority.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA – Migrant Rescue: Members of the Spanish NGO ProActiva Open Arms rescue Peace, a refugee woman from Ghana, from a rubber dinghy on the Mediterranean Sea, Wednesday. ProActiva Open Arms rescued more than 200 migrants Wednesday morning from foundering rubber dinghies about 25 miles north of the Libyan coastal town of al-Khums. Peace gave birth to a girl onboard the Spanish NGO vessel immediately after being rescued.
