Nothing has been more innovative in the new century than the urban vitality of Greenpoint and Williamsburg. Turning open spaces into creative outlets for new audiences has become a North Brooklyn specialty in Greenpoint, Willyburg and Bushwick.

Food and drink are the themes for the annual TASTE, coming up Sept. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. on the waterfront at 90 Kent Ave.

This year’s line-up boasts exciting neighborhood newcomers such as Leuca, Llama Inn, Du’s Donuts and Cheeseboat, as well as TASTE veterans like Pies ‘n’ Thighs and Maison Premiere

Aside from good eats, guests can enjoy entertainment from a kids’ band selected by the Williamsburg School of Music. Interactive activities for attendees will include the St. Nick’s Alliance book mobile on site for kids, a photo booth from Nice Think creative agency, a pop-up market by Artists and Fleas and much more.

As in years prior, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to benefit the Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center, located in the former Engine 212 Firehouse at 134 Wythe Ave. Thanks in large part to the many partners that support TASTE, the Firehouse is on track to reach its fundraising goal and reopen its doors to the community in 2017.

Tickets start at $35 for the FIREHOUSE package of four tastes and two drinks, with additional VIP options available as well for early access and other perks.
