KASHMIR — Demonstrations Continue: Villagers help a Kashmiri militant climb on a stage as he appears in a funeral to pay tributes to slain rebel Suhail Ahmed, who was killed in an ambush by Indian government forces in Tantraypora, on Thursday. A pair of ambushes by Indian government forces and Kashmiri rebels killed two soldiers and two militants in the disputed Himalayan region. At least two militants appeared at the funeral and fired dozens of rounds in honor of their fallen comrades.

SPAIN — Officials Warn Against Heat: A woman protects herself from the sun in Madrid on Thursday. The regional government has put out a maximum level 2 alert regarding high temperatures in Madrid, recommending that people shouldn’t go outside during the hottest period of the day without adequate protection as temperatures are expected to reach 100.4 degrees or higher.

PARAGUAY — Farmers Demand Debt Forgiveness: Farmers protest in downtown Asuncion on Wednesday. Farmers have been camping out in protest since July 10, demanding the government forgive debt they accumulated when the harvest failed due to lack of rain and intense cold.

CZECH REPUBLIC — Mother Bonds with Her Cub: A newly born cheetah cubs is licked by its mother Savannah at their enclosure at the zoo in Prague on Thursday. The five cubs, three male and two female, were born in May 2017. Scientists say every cheetah cub is critical to saving the species, which is threatened with extinction in the wild.

BRAZIL — Citizens Protest President: A demonstrator wearing a shirt reading, “Elections Now” protests as he watches live images of the lower chamber of Brazil’s Congress in Sao Paulo on Wednesday. Demonstrations are taking place in several Brazilian states as the lower house of Congress in Brasilia begins hearings on whether to suspend Brazilian President Michel Temer and put him on trial over an alleged bribery scheme.

RUSSIA — Priest Blesses Troopers: A Russian Orthodox priest blesses paratroopers during celebrations of Paratroopers Day in Red Square in Moscow on Wednesday. Russian Paratroopers’ Forces celebrate the 87th anniversary of the establishment of Russia’s airborne forces.

MINNESOTA – School Fire: Emergency personnel move away as a gas fire continues to burn following an explosion at Minnehaha Academy Wednesday in Minneapolis. Several people are unaccounted for after an explosion and partial building collapse Wednesday at a Minneapolis school, fire officials said. 

PORTUGAL – Plane Crash on the Shore: People walk past a small plane resting by the sea after an emergency landing at Sao Joao beach in Costa da Caparica, outside Lisbon, Wednesday. The plane made the landing on a packed beach killing a man and a child who were sunbathing. 

TEXAS – Covered in Watermelon: Pieces of watermelon cover participants in the Wonder Girls Camp during a teamwork workshop in which they put rubber bands around the watermelon until it explodes during the camp Wednesday at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. The camp is put on by The Crisis Center for girls ages 9-14 offering games and activities that help build self-confidence and self-esteem through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities.
