There’s always something special to see in Sunset Park.

As a preservation-obsessed Brooklynite, we’ve devoted photo features to the landmark-worthy blocks of this intriguing neighborhood.

As a writer fascinated by immigrant cultures, we’ve devoted features to Fifth Avenue’s Hispanic food businesses and Eighth Avenue’s entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and China’s Fujian Province.

As a believer in small businesses as big sources of job creation, we’ve devoted yet other features to Industry City, Sunset Park’s mecca for tech and manufacturing companies.  

Now, we offer Postcards From the Edge. (Yes, we’re borrowing that phrase from the title of the late, great Carrie Fisher’s novel.) Namely the edge of Sunset Park. There are such interesting things out on the edges of the neighborhood.

Beer goggles for buying bathroom towels. We’ll drink to that!

Customers at Liberty View Industrial Plaza can booze and buy thanks to a newly opened restaurant called Bay Market Kitchen that Bed Bath & Beyond (BB&B) built. It serves wine and craft beers.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of the building, ringed by shops that also belong to BB&B including Face Values, which is a makeup store, buybuy Baby, Cost Plus World Market and Bed Bath & Beyond itself.

On the first floor, a Saks Fifth Avenue discount store called Off 5th can be found.

Liberty View Industrial Plaza is at 850 Third Ave., near the shoreline at the northern edge of Sunset Park. The 1.1 million-square-foot building, which formerly was Storehouse #2 of the U.S. Navy Fleet Supply Base, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Salmar Properties LLC with Salmar Realty LLC as its manager bought the former warehouse from the New York City Economic Development Corp. for $9,403,299 in 2011, city Finance Department documents indicate. Selim Rusi is the manager of Salmar Realty LLC, the records show.
