Some of music’s biggest legends hit the stage in Bay Ridge on January 21, well, sort of.

Bee Baa Karaoke, owned by Barbara Perkins and Omar Aviles, hosted a dance party at the Bay Ridge Jewish Center with performances by Louis Carpino as the “King of Rock & Roll” Elvis Presley, Mitchell Augustover as Brooklyn-native Neil Diamond and Perkins and Aviles as Sonny and Cher. The night also featured a DJ, cash bar and refreshments.

Ruth Masyr, the Jewish Center president, told this paper, “The place was full with people from the community and beyond.” She said that members of the audience were encouraged to take part in karaoke and sing their favorite tunes, along with interacting with the performers.

Masyr attributed this to the great facilities at the center. “We have a wonderful stage and some amazingly talented people,” she said. “People who love to sing just lined up and loved the opportunity because we have a stage for them.”

Even though securing the performers may have been a little costly, the great turnout made up for it, and Masyr considers the night a success, and would love to hold it again.

“All in all it was a fun night, relaxed, singing, dancing. It is a great way to spend a Saturday night in the neighborhood,” concluded Masyr.
