“Thoughts and prayers are with the MTA conductor and individual involved in incident today at the 86th St. R train station in Bay Ridge,” noted City Councilmember Vincent Gentile on Facebook, a sentiment echoed by many.

“So sad heard all the sirens. Then all the people at the 95th St, stop for the bus – knew something was up. Prayers for man and conductor,” agreed Facebook user Virginia Pisaniello, one of many who added her thoughts in response to Gentile’s post.

As a result of the incident, service on the R line between 95th and 59th Streets was suspended in both directions, but was restored by later in the afternoon.
