Ready for Christmas in Dyker Heights

The elaborate and over-the-top Christmas decorations that Dyker Heights residents put up outside their homes each holiday season garner worldwide attention and lure thousands of tourists to the neighborhood. But amid all of the flashing lights and twirling Santas, the Brooklyn Eagle noticed a wood-carved Nativity scene that is starting to win over devoted fans.

Lovingly erected on the front lawn of the Archbishop John Hughes Council of the Knights of Columbus building at 1305 86th St., the crèche depicts Mary and Joseph next to the manger awaiting the arrival of the Baby Jesus. Nearby, the Three Wise Men are hurriedly traveling to the scene.

The Knights of Columbus building is located next to a bus stop and many riders stop to admire the Nativity scene as they wait.
