The Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn hosted its annual judiciary night where it honored the achievements of the borough’s judges during a dinner at Gargiulo’s Restaurant in Coney Island on Thursday night.

Over 200 people, including approximately 60 judges, were on hand for the event. It not only gave members a chance to meet, speak with and get to know the members of the judiciary in attendance, but it also served as the Columbian Lawyers’ holiday party.

“This is my favorite event of the year because it brings us all together for the holidays,” said first vice president Linda LoCascio. “It also provides us with a wonderful opportunity to honor, thank and to get to know the distinguished members of our judiciary.”

There were no formal speeches during the event or awards given out, making it one of the more laid-back events of the season despite the high-profile judiciary involved. LoCascio did take the opportunity to thank certain members of the organization, who played a large role over the last year.

“Dean Delianites is doing a great job as our president, which was recently evidenced by the wonderful turnout at our 50th anniversary celebration in October,” LoCascio said. “And of course, many thanks to Steven Bamundo, who continues to lead and guide this organization with the wonderful assistance of our executive committee and past presidents. I would also like to thank Lucy DiSalvo for all of her tremendous effort in making this event possible.”

There was also a brief moment of silence held for “the heart and soul” of the organization, the late Hon. Anthony J. Cutrona.

“This is such a wonderful event,” Delianites said. “Judge’s night was one of Judge Cutrona’s favorite events because there were no speeches or awards being presented. It’s just colleagues sharing each other’s company as we celebrate the coming holiday season.”
