Court interns donate 264 pairs of eyeglasses to charity

These students are going to get an “A” in helping people see.

The students in the Kings County Courts Student Employment and Internship Program collected an impressive 264 pairs of eyeglasses, reading glasses and sunglasses for the nonprofit organization New Eyes for the Needy in a drive that culminated last Thursday, Aug. 11.

The Kings County Courts Eyeglasses Committee organized the event and collected donations. Top donors included Justice Eric I. Prus, Sharon Feinberg, Barbara Guida and Marie Nyman. Michael Khodorkovsky collected 31 pairs of glasses, the most out of the student interns.

The interns are a part of a summer program that includes more than 50 high school and college students and pairs them with various court employees and judges.
