Man who struck Sunset toddler in face with glass bottle arrested

According to police, the man who threw a 22-ounce glass bottle at another man, hitting a three-year-old boy while his 49-year-old mother was walking him to school, was spotted and apprehended by officers of the 72nd Precinct during the morning hours of Wednesday, August 10.

On Tuesday, August 9, the boy and his mother encountered the two men fighting with each other outside a supermarket on Fifth Avenue and 60th Street when he was hit and sustained a large gash above his right eye. The perp fled the scene towards 60th Street.

The boy has since been released from the hospital.

Although the man is in custody,  he has yet to be officially charged with a crime.
