Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 216th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1912, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Bombs Set Off in Hallway.”

The article focused on a bomb that went off in a six-tenement building at Suydam and Hart streets.

“No one was hurt, but all of the families in the tenement were greatly excited by the explosion, and by slight fires that were caused by sparks from the infernal machine,” the Eagle reported. “As soon as the cause of the explosion was determined and the families quieted an alarm was turned in, and engines responded.”
