ON THIS DAY IN 1872, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “The Bridge. How the Great Work Goes On.”

The article focused on the annual reports on the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge.

BROOKLYN BRIDGE Park will host a Walt Whitman Tour tonight at 6:30 p.m., beginning at the Pier 1 entrance. Whitman scholar and NYU Professor Karen Karbiener will lead the tour, which focuses on the importance of the Brooklyn waterfront to the famous writer. THE GRAND ST. STOMPERS will perform as part of the Plaza Swing Series at the Brooklyn Public Library tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Central branch.
