This Memorial Day — for the 18th year in a row — Brooklynites can enjoy a free outdoor concert at beautiful Green-Wood Cemetery. The award-winning symphonic band of the InterSchools Orchestra of New York will play a full program of inspiring, patriotic songs, as well as best-loved American classics. Concertgoers can bring their own blanket for a picnic lunch or take a seat in the chairs provided. Food vendors are also on hand to sell hamburgers, hotdogs, water, sweets and more.

To give their full support to those who are serving or have served (and even family survivors of those we have lost) the orchestra will give a special recognition to each branch of the service during the musical “Armed Forces Salute.” Veterans and families must arrive no later than 2 p.m. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m.

Grouped by branch, veterans will march past the bandstand and be recognized by the crowd when their own service song is played. This is a new addition to the annual Memorial Day Concert.
