Brooklyn Today

Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 127th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1946, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “FBI Joins Drive on Black Market in Meat in City.”

The article focused on a probe into the city’s black market meat industry.

“The FBI reinforcements were added to OPA agents, city police and inspectors of the sheriff’s office and city Health and Markets Departments, who have been patrolling the local meat front since April 24,” the Eagle reported. “… forces already on the job will continue their anti-black market activities as vigorously as ever.”
