Chamber of Commerce hosts Bay Ridge business mixer
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce came to Bay Ridge on April 21 for a business mixer designed to give business owners the chance to mix and mingle and discuss economic ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.
Billed as “Chamber Visits Bay Ridge,” the cocktail party took place at the Wicked Monk, a popular bar-restaurant at 9510 Third Ave., and drew a standing-room-only crowd of local merchants, bankers, real estate agents, civic leaders and elected officials.
Carlo Scissura, president and CEO of the chamber, set the tone for the evening by making his way around the restaurant and casually chatting with guests.
The Bay Ridge event is part of the Chamber Visits program, in which Scissura and chamber members gather at restaurants in different parts of Brooklyn for business mixers.
The Chamber Visits program is the organization’s most well-known networking event, according to the chamber’s website. The events offer members “the opportunity to meet, mingle and make meaningful connections with other businesses in a fun and entertaining setting after work,” a description on the website reads.
Other chamber-sponsored events include Business Before Hours, a monthly, morning networking event for members who want to do more focused, efficient networking in small groups; Brooklyn Newsmakers, a quarterly event featuring guest speakers addressing citywide issues; RED (Real Estate & Development) Nites, informal networking events for real estate professionals; and Young BK Professionals, an initiative designed to foster future business leaders in Brooklyn.
