The Cyclone is back and better than ever! A newly refurbished Cyclone, an Egg Cream toast, Mr. Met and local elected officials will open Luna Park — New York City’s largest amusement park — for the 2016 season this Saturday, March 26, at 11:30 a.m. (1000 Surf Ave.), in front of Coney Island’s Cyclone. The opening was originally scheduled for March 20, but was postponed because of weather conditions.

Luna Park is also launching its new Platinum Wristband program, which allows visitors to experience some of Luna Park’s most thrilling rides at a discounted rate.

The first several guests will also get to indulge in egg cream provided by Brooklyn Seltzer Boys. In honor of the newly refurbished Cyclone roller coaster, Cyclone Café will be serving “Cyclone Burgers.”

Several leaders and elected officials are expected to attend the opening day ceremony, including Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Councilmember Mark Treyger.

The park was originally supposed to open on March 20, but that plan was postponed due to inclement weather in the New York City area.
