Fake salesman tries to fight his way into Dyker Heights home

Police are urging Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights residents to be wary of potential imposters.

According to reports, a man claiming to be an energy salesperson allegedly attempted to rob a Dyker Heights apartment, within the confines of the 68th Precinct, last week.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 3 at around 6 p.m. near the corner of 66th Street and 11th Avenue and involved a man who, the victim told police, showed a fake badge and claimed to be selling an energy package.

When the resident declined the offer, the suspect allegedly became aggressive and flashed a gun while trying to force his way through the door. He eventually fled when the victim was able to keep him out.
