Suspect sought in fatal Fifth Avenue hit and run

Cops are looking to identify the suspect they say sped off from a fatal hit and run at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Ninth Street on Sunday, February 28, within the confines of the 78th Precinct.

According to police, just before 5 a.m. the suspect’s vehicle ran a red light and struck a 41-year-old cyclist as he crossed the avenue. The driver – who’s vehicle is described as a late model four-door Nissan Altima, light brown or tan in color with damage to the passenger side – continued southbound on Fifth Avenue.

The car is said to have a broken bumper and an inoperable passenger side headlight and fog light, and is missing its passenger side mirror.

The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
