After 11 years in operation, the family-owned Pollina Pharmacy in Dyker Heights celebrated its grand re-opening on February 13.

According to owner and pharmacist Roberto Pollina, the pharmacy’s expansion will allow his business to offer a wider product line to customers, including cosmetics and gift items.

Among the dignitaries at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President Carlo Scissura, State Senator Marty Golden, Assemblymember Peter Abbate, Councilmember Vincent Gentile, Community Board 10 District Manager Josephine Beckmann and Dyker Heights Civic Association President Fran Vella-Marrone.

Pollina was raised and currently lives in the Dyker Heights area with his family, and says his pharmacy maintains a personal connection with the neighborhood and his customers.

“I’ve watched many of my customer’s kids grow up,” said Pollina. “We know the faces and names of the people who come in. We’re a little more family oriented than the larger businesses.”

Pollina Pharmacy is located at 7605 13th Avenue, between 76th and 77th Street.
