There are just two weeks left to apply for the first round of September, 2016 universal, full-day pre-K seats announced Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday, February 22 from the pre-K center at the old Bishop Ford campus in Windsor Terrace.

The first round – which closes Friday, March 4 – was open to the public earlier than ever this year, according to the mayor.

“We’ve started earlier than ever with the application process to give parents maximum choice, to give parents maximum security of knowing as soon as possible where their child will be going,” said de Blasio from a pre-K site that currently serves nearly 300 children.

Parents interested in getting a head start are encouraged to complete a short application for all programs, available online at NYC.gov/prek, over the phone at 718-935-2067, or in-person at one of the city’s Family Welcome Centers.

“No child should miss this opportunity,” said de Blasio. “These days, education is the whole ballgame, and kids who have been to pre-k start on first base, they start with a leg up, they have the ability to go farther than children who haven’t had that opportunity.”
