Feb. 10, birthdays for Jim Cramer, Elizabeth Banks, Mark Spitz
Brooklyn Today
Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 41st day of the year.
ON THIS DAY IN 1909, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Hypnotism a Success; Jewish Hospital Test.”
The article focused on hospitals testing hypnotism or psychotherapy as a replacement for anesthesia in minor surgeries.
“Members of the medical profession have often wondered if hypnotism could not be used in the place of an anesthetic,” the Eagle reported. “In the case yesterday it was fully proven that it could, and that a patient so treated would suffer no pain under treatment when once thrown into the cataleptic state by a hypnotist.”
