One Dyker Heights doctor is offering up correction and pain relief for neck and back pain.
Dr. James DiGiuseppi DC of the Spine and Disc Center of Brooklyn has been treating patients with debilitating neck and back pain for more than 32 years, correcting the problem through “honest, effective, and affordable” decompression therapy.

Dr. DiGiuseppi’s Advanced Decompression Therapy System is a non-surgical, highly effective solution for disc-related lower back, neck and radiating leg pain that he adds, involves no spinal injections or drugs – just one machine.

“This machine makes a correction whereas a lot of other treatments are more like a Band-Aid,” said Dr. DiGiuseppi. “If you go and get an injection – that’s a Band-Aid. It’s going to wear off and it’s not going to correct anything. This machine gets to the root of the problem and corrects it.”
According to Dr. DiGiuseppi, Decompression Therapy effectively relieves the pain associated with disc herniation, degenerative discs, posterior facet and other spinal-related syndromes by reducing the pressure on spinal discs and facet joints through unloading created by distraction and positioning.

“Sometimes, other treatments leave you worse off because they are temporarily pain relievers,” Dr. DiGiuseppi explained. “For instance, you may think you are fine to partake in activities, and then when the medicine wears off, the pain is worse. Decompression Therapy addresses the pain and corrects the problem, returning you to a more normal lifestyle.”

The treatment – an approved procedure covered by some insurance companies – begins with a series of sessions, typically three to four times per week depending on the severity of the injury. During each session, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound or therapeutic laser may be applied to help relax muscles and promote further healing of injured tissues.

“Pain is an indicator that something is wrong,” said Dr. DiGiuseppi, “and we are happy to offer up a correction.”
